Emissions Recall P039: Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp Illumination

This recall affects 2010-2013 model year LR4 and Range Rover Sport, and 2010-2012 model year Range Rover vehicles fitted with the 5.0L V8 engine.

The condition may cause the engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to illuminate with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0316, which can reduce the vehicle’s ability to control tailpipe emissions.

Affected Vehicles and Owner Notification

Owner notification is expected to commence on or before the week of 11 August 2014, based on VIN group.

Affected vehicles already in the hands of customers should be updated at the next available opportunity.

Workshop Procedures and Warranty Note

Retailers are required to check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this program prior to undertaking any rework action.

Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times and prices are subject to change.

Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code ‘PO39’ together with the relevant Option Code from the table.
