Engine Rattles at Cold Start-Up

This service bulletin addresses an issue with the engine rattling loudly for about 2 seconds at cold start-up.

The probable cause is a defective variable valve timing control (VTC) actuator.

Corrective Action

Replace the VTC actuator following the outlined repair procedure.

Required materials include the VTC actuator (P/N 14310-R40-A01) and Hondabond HT Liquid Silicone Gasket (P/N 08718-0004).
