The 2006 Cadillac SRX Service Manual provides instructions for replacing the Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCIM).
VCIM Replacement
Before replacing the VCIM, it is imperative to record the 11-digit electronic serial number (ESN) and 10-digit station identification (STID) number from the label on the new VCIM.
Removal Procedure
Disconnect all electrical connectors from the module and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Reconnect the electrical connectors, and tighten the nuts to 9 Nm (80 Ib in). Install the right rear body side trim.
After replacing the VCIM, it is necessary to reconfigure the OnStar system.
