Technical Service Bulletin 18-09-98 Rev. B
This bulletin addresses a hot engine no start, hot engine restart with a rough idle, or hot engine restart/die-out condition after a 10 to 20 minute hot soak.
The condition may be aggravated by alcohol blended fuels and can be caused by fuel vapor build up in the fuel rail.
Diagnosis and Repair
Diagnosis involves verifying engine and transmission systems using the Diagnostic Scan Tool (DRB III) and performing fuel bleed procedures.
Repair procedures include replacing the fuel pump module if necessary, selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software, and performing a thermostat modification and heater hose modification on 2.7L engines.
