ABS “Warning” Light Illumination

The 1989 and newer Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wagoneer models equipped with an anti-lock brake system (ABS) may trigger the ABS “warning” light during slight to moderate rear wheel slip in two-wheel drive mode.

The ABS warning light will only be illuminated as long as the fault condition exists, and a fault code will be stored in the brake control module.

Clearing Memory of the Brake Control Module

To clear the memory, use a DRBII (Chrysler scanner with cartridge) or cycle the ignition at least 50 times for each existing code.

More information can be found in the Wagner AU-6400 Anti-Lock Brake Systems Service Manual.
