Datasheet Summary
The X9420 is a single-digitally controlled potentiometer (XDCP) that integrates a resistor array and associated registers and counter with a serial interface logic. It provides direct communication between the host and the potentiometer.
The device features a 6-bit Wiper Counter Register (WCR) that can be written directly by the host or indirectly by transferring the contents of one of four associated data registers. The WCR is volatile, meaning its contents are lost when the device is powered down.
The X9420 has four 6-bit nonvolatile data registers that can be read or written directly by the host. These registers can be used for general-purpose nonvolatile data storage or to store up to four different wiper values.
The device supports the SPI interface hardware conventions and is accessed via the SI input with data clocked in on the rising SCK. The SO and SI pins can be connected together to reduce system pin count.
The X9420 is available in 16-pin SOIC and 14-pin TSSOP packages and has a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C or 0°C to +70°C depending on the package and voltage.
