CIEDs require ongoing patient management to maintain and optimize device functionality and inform patient treatment.
CIED Types Covered
The scope of this document includes coding, coverage, and payment for patient management services for the following CIED types:
Pacemakers, Defibrillators (ICDs), Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT-D & CRT-P), Subcutaneous Cardiac Rhythm Monitors (ILR/ICM), and Implantable Cardiovascular Physiologic Monitoring.
2024 Updates
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced changes to remote monitoring codes beginning January 1, 2024, including the deletion of HCPCS code G2066 and the addition of technical service (-TC) and professional service (-26) modifiers to CPT codes 93297 and 93298.
