Brake System Updates

The service bulletin covers updates and procedures for Jaguar models with disc brakes, including the introduction of a new type of master cylinder and handbrake connecting link.

Master Cylinder Reconditioning

A new type of master cylinder has been introduced, and reconditioning kits are available. The procedure involves removing the dust excluder, circlip, and piston and valve assembly, and then reassembling with new parts.

Handbrake Connecting Link

A longer handbrake connecting link has been introduced to improve efficiency. The new link has two holes at its lower end, and the pin securing the link to the handbrake cross-shaft lever must be inserted in the lower hole.

Vacuum Cylinder Lubricant

The recommended lubricant for vacuum cylinders has been changed from “Cosmolubic 100” to “Shell Tellus 33”.

Cast Iron Brake Cylinders

Cast iron brake cylinder blocks have been replaced with new ones, and the self-adjustment arrangement has been modified. The new type has an integral construction with a one-piece end plate.

Precautions: When returning waste cylinders and servo units to the factory, hydraulic connections must be plugged to prevent mineral oil from entering the system.
