About the Hybrid Vehicle
The Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid has a parallel hybrid engine, combining an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.
The electric motor functions as a 12V starter and generator, supporting the internal combustion engine when accelerating and working as a generator when braking to charge the high voltage battery.
Operating Modes
The hybrid vehicle operates in several modes:
When stationary, the high voltage battery supplies the vehicle with electricity.
In electric driving mode, the electric motor drives the vehicle.
When driving using the internal combustion engine, the high voltage battery is charged depending on the state of charge.
In E-Boost mode, the electric motor supports the internal combustion engine when the load requirement is high.
In brake recovery mode, the electric motor converts braking energy into electric energy, storing it in the high voltage battery.
