History of Maserati

Maserati was founded in 1914 by Alfieri, Ernesto, and Ettore Maserati in Bologna, Italy. The company started by modifying Isotta Fraschini cars for road racing and later produced its own racing car, the Maserati Tipo 26, which won its class in the Targa Florio in 1926.

Throughout the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s, Maserati achieved numerous successes on the racetrack, including two Indianapolis 500 wins and the 1957 F1 World Championship.

Transition to Passenger Cars

In 1947, Maserati began manufacturing passenger cars, starting with the Maserati A6 grand tourer. This was followed by the 3500 GT 2+2 sports coupe in 1957, which introduced innovations such as twin-spark ignition, disc brakes, and fuel injection.
