Introduction
The FemoSeal vascular closure device is a semi-automatic, over-the-wire device used for closure of femoral artery access after coronary angiography (CAG).
Key Features
The device consists of an inner seal and an outer locking disc made of fully resorbable polymer, which are held together by a resorbable multifilament.
The device is designed to reduce bleeding and discomfort after CAG, and has been shown to be safe and effective in clinical trials.
Procedure
The device is inserted through a 6 Fr sheath, and the closure procedure involves releasing the sealing anchor plate inside the artery and withdrawing it to seal the channel from the inside of the vessel.
A locking plate is then released outside the vessel wall, and the device is removed, leaving a suture under the skin to finalize the closure procedure.
