Foreword
This handbook is for the owner and driver of the Lotus Esprit, providing safety considerations, explanations, and instructions for operating the driving controls, and details of technical specifications and maintenance requirements.
Vehicle Identification
The Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N.) is stamped on a vertical flange at the right-hand front corner of the chassis, and the engine number is stamped on a vertical flange at the left-hand rear of the cylinder block.
Safety Precautions
The Esprit has been designed to comply with all applicable safety regulations and incorporates passive safety features, including occupant protection door beams, burst-resistant door locks, and collapsible steering column.
Active safety features include anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, high-geared power-assisted steering, and rapid acceleration.
Owners should note that the only approved extras and conversions are those specified by the Factory and carried out by the Factory or an authorized dealer.
