Service Bulletin: 6.7L New Oil Usage Information for 2019 and Newer HD Trucks

Important Oil Usage Information

This bulletin provides guidance on the correct oil grade to use for 6.7L Cummins engines in 2019 and newer HD Trucks.

Requirements for Cold Climates

In areas where temperatures fall below -18°C, use SW-40 synthetic engine oil that meets US Material Standard MS-10902 and API CJ-4.

Recommendations for Warmer Climates

For 2018 and older vehicles, use 15W-40 engine oil. For 2019 and newer vehicles, use 10W-30 engine oil.

Important: 15W-40 grade oil cannot be used in 2019 model year or newer 6.7L equipped vehicles, as it can cause engine damage.
