Body Features
The 2016 HR-V Series features a Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, with extensive use of high and ultra-high-tensile-strength steel.
Steel parts are color-coded based on their tensile strength in megapascals (MPa), with high strength steel (HSS) defined as 340 MPa or higher, and ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) defined as 980 MPa or higher.
Steel Repair and Welding
Repair and welding procedures vary depending on the tensile strength of the parts involved.
1,500 MPa steel is used in certain locations, including the front pillar upper stiffener, center pillar stiffener reinforcement, and side sill stiffener, to help protect vehicle occupants while reducing overall vehicle weight and improving fuel efficiency.
