Read all safety warnings, instructions, and specifications carefully before using the GCM12SD Miter Saw. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
Important safety symbols are used throughout the manual to alert users to potential hazards. These symbols include DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
Keep the work area clean and well-lit, and avoid operating power tools in explosive atmospheres. Stay alert and avoid distractions while operating the tool.
Use personal protective equipment, such as eye protection, dust masks, and non-skid safety shoes. Ensure the power tool plug matches the outlet and avoid modifying the plug in any way.
Safety Instructions for Miter Saws
Miter saws are intended to cut wood or wood-like products and should not be used with abrasive cut-off wheels for cutting ferrous materials.
Always support the workpiece securely and keep your hands at least 100 mm (4″) from either side of the saw blade. Do not reach behind the fence or use another person as a substitute for a table extension.
Inspect the workpiece before cutting and ensure there are no gaps between the workpiece, fence, and table along the line of the cut. Always use a clamp or fixture to properly support round material.
