Engine Misfires and MIL Illuminated

This technical bulletin addresses engine misfires, poor fuel economy, hard starting, and rough idle conditions in Jaguar vehicles.

The issue may be caused by incomplete combustion due to poor fueling, resulting in the Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) being illuminated with misfire Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).

Service Instructions

Three service instructions are outlined to address the issue, including replacing fuel injectors and updating Engine Control Module (ECM) software.

The instructions vary depending on the vehicle model and the type of misfire (cold or hot engine).

Technicians are advised to follow the appropriate service instruction and to investigate other causes for the misfire if necessary.
