Safety and Effectiveness

Operators should keep ultrasound exposure of patients as low as possible during exams to prevent adverse biological effects.

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) states that diagnostic ultrasound has been in use since the late 1950s and has not been shown to cause confirmed biological effects on patients or instrument operators at typical intensities.

Maximum Acoustic Output Information

Acoustic output data has been confirmed by measurements made in water according to AIUM/NEMA safety standards.

Estimated in-situ intensities are used by the FDA to evaluate biological safety and are estimated from measurements in water, depth, and acoustic frequency.
