Introduction

This service bulletin provides instructions for addressing excessive vibrations during hard acceleration in certain Model S and Model X vehicles.

Condition

The condition affects some versions of the front drive unit halfshafts, causing vibrations during hard acceleration at higher ride height settings. This is an NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) issue and does not affect steering functionality, braking, or acceleration.

Correction

Upon customer complaint, inspect the vehicle for excessive vibrations and replace both front drive unit halfshafts with updated components. If necessary, replace the front drive unit clevis and axle seal.

Important Notes

The repair procedure varies depending on the vehicle build date, with different instructions for vehicles built before or after April 24, 2019.

Special tools and parts are required for the repair, and the procedure should only be performed by trained professionals.
