Track Preparation
The 2023 Camaro models, including the SS Coupe, Turbo ILE, V6 ILE, V8 ILE, ZLI Coupe, and ZLI ILE, have been built for track performance in sanctioned racing events.
Before unleashing their acceleration, cornering, and braking capability, several key procedures and steps must be taken to properly experience their track dominance.
New Vehicle Break-In
All Camaro models have a required break-in period during the first 1,500 miles (2414 km) that can help with the life of their performance.
During this period, drivers should avoid full-throttle starts, abrupt stops, and exceeding 4000 rpm.
Seasoning the Brakes
A brake burnish procedure is recommended to ensure optimal brake performance.
This procedure involves applying the brakes 25 times, starting at 60 mph (100 km/h) to 30 mph (50 km/h), and then repeating the process from 60 mph (100 km/h) to 15 mph (25 km/h).
Adjusting the Four Corners and Vehicle Components
Tire pressure and wheel alignment settings are provided for optimized road course usage.
These settings vary by model and axle.
Checking Fluids
It is recommended to check the engine oil level and keep it at or near the upper mark that shows the proper operating range on the engine oil dipstick.
Automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid, and other fluids should also be checked and maintained according to the recommended schedule.
Adjusting the Suspension
The front strut top mount of Camaro ZLI with the 1LE Performance Package can be positioned two ways, with the original setting in the street position and an additional setting for the track position.
The front struts also have a threaded spring seat that allows adjustment of the preload on the front springs.
The rear stabilizer bar ends on ZLI ILE have three attachment positions that allow the rear roll stiffness of the vehicle to be adjusted.
