Description
The HA Series data sheet introduces industrial high energy Metal-Oxide Varistors (MOVs) designed for secondary surge protection in various environments. These include the outdoors, service entrances for buildings, distribution panels, and the demanding fields of oil drilling, mining, and transportation. Absolute Maximum Ratings
In the HA Series, the MOVs can handle continuous steady state applied voltages, substantial transients peak pulse currents up to 40,000A, and single-pulse energy from 160J to 1050J. They also reliably operate across temperature ranges from -55°C up to +85°C and offer excellent storage capabilities from -55°C to +125°C. A positive temperature coefficient for voltage clamping ensures reliable performance under specified test currents. Encapsulation isolates the devices with a high potential (Hi-Pot) coating, sustaining 2500VDC for one minute, complying with MIL-STD 202, Method 301. Further, the insulation resistance remains robust at 1000MΩ.
Caution
The data sheet warns against exceeding the absolute maximum ratings, as doing so might cause permanent damage to the MOV, and stresses that operation beyond indicated conditions is not implied.
