Overview
The ATC 700 B Series NPO Porcelain and Ceramic Multilayer Capacitors are designed for RF and microwave applications requiring minimal drift, including bypass, coupling, tuning, and DC blocking. They offer high-quality factors, low equivalent series resistance/inductance (ESR/ESL), and self-resonance frequencies. They are also hermetically sealed for rugged construction and reliability.
Electrical Specifications
The capacitors range from 0.1 pF to 5100 pF with a Quality Factor (Q) greater than 10,000 for 0.1 pF to 200 pF, greater than 2,000 for 220 pF to 1000 pF, and greater than 2000 for 1100 pF to 5100 pF. They operate within a Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC) of 0 ±30 ppm/°C from -55°C to +125°C. Their working voltage (WVDC) varies depending on capacitance ratings, up to a maximum of 1500 VDC, and they offer outstanding Insulation Resistance (IR).
Environmental Performance and Durability
Capacitors in this series are adept at handling various environmental stresses, such as thermal shock, moisture resistance, and low voltage humidity as per MIL-STD-202 standards, with minimal aging effects and piezoelectric effects. They are capable of withstanding dielectric voltage tests from 250% to 120% of their rated WVDC for 5 seconds, depending on the WVDC rating. The series also includes options for an extended working voltage with encapsulation for additional protection.
Reliability Tests and Quality Assurance
The ATC 700 B Series capacitors meet or exceed the requirements of industry standards such as EIA-198, MIL-PRF-55881, and MIL-PRF-123. Specific tests include a life test of 2000 hours with applied voltages specified for different WVDC ratings, and thermal shock testing under MIL-STD-202, Method 107, Condition A. The series is also ISO 9001 registered, signifying a commitment to consistent quality.
Applications and Circuit Integration
Typical functional applications for these capacitors include filters, oscillators, timing circuits, and RF power amplifiers. The variety of terminal styles available supports integration into different surface mount and leaded circuit configurations.
Operational Parameters and Capacitance Drift
Operating temperature ranges vary with capacitance, extending up to +175°C for ranges 0.1 to 200 pF and up to +125°C for 220 to 5100 pF. The series ensures a capacitance drift limit of ±(0.02% or 0.02 pF), whichever is greater. Additionally, terminal strength is tested to withstand tension in compliance with MIL-STD-202, method 211.
