Overview
The datasheet discusses Series Miniature Slide Switches which are designed for a wide array of applications including communications equipment and lighting devices. The switches feature positive detent, enclosed housing, both maintained and momentary functions, options for PC and panel mounting, and are RoHS compliant (restricting the use of certain hazardous substances).
Models and Features
Several models are available, each with distinctive features such as the number and type of poles and throws, actuator height variations, detent options, mounting styles, terminal types, contact materials, seals, and cap colors. Users can build a switch by selecting options from various categories as described on pages 1-20 through 1-24 of the datasheet.
Specifications
The switches are made of high-quality materials such as a 6/6 nylon housing and actuator, copper contacts with silver plating, music wire or stainless steel for the contact spring, and an epoxy terminal seal. The electrical life is rated at 10,000 make-and-break cycles at full load due to the durability of the Q contact material. Contact resistance is below 10 milliohms, with the insulation resistance at a minimum of 10⁹ ohms. Dielectric strength stands at 1,000 volts RMS minimum at sea level.
Performance
In terms of performance, switches are capable of operating within a temperature range of -30°C to +65°C, with a storage temperature range slightly broader, at -30°C to +85°C. For the contact rating, switches can handle 4 amps at 125 volts AC or 28 volts DC; for 250 volts AC, they can handle 2 amps; and finally, for 125 volts DC, the rating is 0.5 amp.
Customization and Compliance
It is indicated that models supplied with B or G contact material are RoHS compliant. Any specifications and materials listed are for switches with standard options. Customers requiring specific and custom switches are advised to consult the Customer Service Center. Various terminations such as PC Thru-hole, solder lugs, and wire wraps are available, giving users flexibility according to their design needs.
Ordering Information
The “Build-A-Switch” section allows for customization of the switch by selecting options from given categories such as switch function, actuator, detent, mounting style, terminations, contact material, seal, and cap color. Users are guided to the respective catalog pages for detailed descriptions of the available options.
