Overview

KEMET’s SMD MLCCs with COG dielectric offer a maximum operating temperature of 125°C. This product is classified by the Electronics Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (EIA) as a Class I material and is considered stable. COG dielectrics are ideal for resonant circuit applications and where the consistency and stability of capacitance are essential. Capacitance remains unaffected over time and displays minimal change with variations in ambient temperature, limited to ±30 ppm/°C across the range of -55°C to +125°C.

Another benefit of these capacitors is the absence of piezoelectric noise, combined with extremely low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and Equivalent Series Inductance (ESL), which contribute to high thermal stability and high ripple current capability.

The ordering code for KEMET’s COG dielectric capacitors includes the case size (like 1206), followed by a specification/capacitance code (such as 104 for 0.1 µF), the capacitance tolerance (with codes like B for ±0.10 pF), the voltage rating (indicated by numbers like 8 for a 10 V rating), the dielectric type (G for COG), termination finish (like matte tin), and the grade (C-spec).
