Overview
The ATC 700 B Series NPO Porcelain and Ceramic Multilayer Capacitors are designed for RF/Microwave applications, highlighted by low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and Equivalent Series Inductance (ESL), a Zero Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC), and high self-resonance features. Intended for applications that require minimal drift such as RF power, these capacitors offer a capacitance range of 0.1 pF to 5100 pF with extended Working Voltage DC (WVDC) capabilities of up to 1500 VDC. The rugged porcelain and ceramic construction ensures durability and a hermetic seal.
Quality and Performance
The Quality Factor (Q) of these capacitors is greater than 10,000 for capacitances between 0.1 pF and 200 pF and remains high, above 2000, for capacitances from 220 pF to 5100 pF. They provide consistent performance across a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C or up to +175°C for certain capacitance values. The capacitors exhibit an Insulation Resistance (IR) of at least 10^6 Megohms at +25°C for values up to 470 pF, and not less than 10^4 Megohms at +125°C for higher capacitance values up to 5100 pF.
Reliability and Compliance
The ATC 700 B Series comply with stringent standards including EIA-198, MIL-PRF-55681, and MIL-PRF-123, ensuring they meet the demands of various environmental tests such as Thermal Shock (MIL-STD-202 Method 107), Moisture Resistance (Method 106), and Low Voltage Humidity (Method 103). They are also designed to resist dielectric withstanding voltage, experiencing no piezoelectric effects and minimal capacitance drift. A rigorous life test requires a 200% WVDC for 2000 hours at 125°C.
Applications and Configurations
These capacitors are suitable for bypassing, coupling, tuning, and DC blocking in functional applications, and are integral in circuit designs for filters, oscillators, timing mechanisms, and RF power amplifiers. Different terminal styles for various surface mount and leaded configurations are available, detailed on page 3 of the datasheet. The terminal strength can withstand a significant pull force, ensuring robust physical connectivity.
