Overview

The datasheet presents the A Series 1-4 Pole Rotary Switches, which are versatile and suitable for applications in the automotive industry, major and small appliances, and various industrial equipment.

Features and Benefits

The switches come with multiple features, including the option for multi-pole and multi-position configurations, a positive detent offering clear feedback, a choice between shorting and non-shorting contacts, and options for both panel and PCB mounting. They are RoHS Compliant, ensuring they meet certain environmental standards.

Models Available

There’s a range of models available, providing flexibility in choice to suit various requirements.

Specifications

Important specifications outlined include a contact rating of up to 2.5 AMPS at 125 V AC or 350 mA at 125 V DC, with the capability to carry 5 AMPS continuously. The electrical life expectancy is significant, supporting 15,000 make-and-break cycles at full load and up to 300,000 detent operations. Contact resistance is low at below 20 mΩ initially, insulation resistance stands at a minimum of 10^9 Ω, and the dielectric strength is a minimum of 1000 Vrms at sea level. Operating and storage temperature ranges from -30°C to 85°C. Notably, models with certain contact materials are specified to be RoHS compliant.

Materials

The switches consist of glass-filled 6/6 nylon for the housing and bushing, and similar material for the actuator, both conforming to UL 94V-0 for safety standards. Contacts are made of coin silver, with silver plating, and contact materials include brass, also silver plated. Additional hardware consists of zinc nickel plated nut, bright zinc plated lockwasher, and nickel plated stop ring, alongside an epoxy terminal seal.

Note that specifications and materials listed pertain to switches with standard options, and for custom switch configurations, the customer service center should be consulted.

Build-A-Switch

The ‘Build-A-Switch’ section instructs on how to order by selecting options from each category such as Switch Function, Actuator, Mounting Style, Shorting/Non-shorting Contacts, Terminations, Contact Material and Seal options, referencing additional details available from pages K-4 through K-7 of the datasheet housing an array of configurations and customizations.
