Overview

The Precision Thin Film Chip Resistors – PFC Series from IRC Advanced Film Division encompasses a range of high precision, ultra-stable resistors designed for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications. These resistors feature an ultra-stable Tantalum Nitride resistor film system, offering exceptional performance in various chip sizes including 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1505, 2010, and 2512. The resistors come with either standard 60/40 Sn/Pb or Pb-free (RoHS compliant) terminations. Additionally, MIL standard screening is available for applications requiring military specifications.

The PFC Series is characterized by a non-leaching nickel barrier and wrap-around termination, which help maintain high-quality solder connections. Its passivated Tantalum Nitride film assures longevity and performance stability in diverse environments, thus ensuring the reliability of the resistors’ initial precision even under harsh surface mount soldering conditions.

Electrical Data and Ratings

Electrical specifications of the series vary by model, with power ratings from 50mW for the W0402, up to 1W for the W2512. Maximum voltage ratings range from 75V for the smaller W0402 and W0603 sizes, to 200V for the W1206 and W2512 sizes. These resistors operate within a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and exhibit an ESD sensitivity of 2KV to 4KV (Human Body Model or HBM).

Noise and Construction

The PFC Series also features an inert noise characteristic at <-25dB and boasts a 99.5% alumina substrate, highlighting the components' robustness and reliability in electronic circuits.
