Welcome to Your New Panasonic High Definition Video Camera
Thank you for choosing Panasonic! Before you start capturing precious moments with your new High Definition Video Camera, models HC-W580 and HC-V380, it is essential that you take some time to read through the owner’s manual carefully and retain it for future reference.
Product Registration and Confidentiality
We recommend registering your video camera online at Panasonic’s support website (specifically for U.S. customers). Please be mindful that the details within this manual were considered confidential up until February 4, 2016, under the code sQW0508.
Recording Options and Formats
The Panasonic video camera offers a variety of formatting choices to best suit your viewing and editing preferences. One can select between three formats:
- AVCHD Progressive (1080/60p): Ideal for those looking to view on a high-definition television or save to a disc. If you choose this format, there are two ways to save your images in 1080/60p; either using the provided HD Writer LE 3.1 or by transferring to a compatible Panasonic Blu-ray disc recorder.
- MP4: This format is optimized for playback or editing on PCs. It’s noted that this format is not compatible with the AVCHD-formatted videos.
- iFrame: Suitable for Mac users, particularly for playback or editing in applications like iMovie. Like MP4, it does not support compatibility with AVCHD video files.
Maintenance and Care
Confronting issues like condensation can be a concern for any camera owner. The manual provides helpful tips on how to prevent condensation—which can occur when moving between extreme temperature changes—such as sealing your camera in a plastic bag until it adjusts to the new temperature. In the event condensation does occur, remove the battery and AC adapter and allow the camera to acclimate to the surrounding temperature for about an hour until the fogginess dissipates.
Limited Responsibility
Please note, Panasonic does not accept responsibility for any damages or loss that may arise from problems related to loss of recording or edited content, nor do they guarantee the content in the event of malfunction during recording or editing. Additionally, the same disclaimer applies if the unit undergoes any form of repair.
This manual serves as an indispensable guide to understanding your camera’s features, storage formats, and maintenance, ensuring you enjoy a seamless experience while preserving your memories.
