Summary of 2.54mm Pitch High Density Connector A1 and A2 Series Datasheet
The datasheet provides detailed information on the A1 and A2 series of high-density connectors with a 2.54mm pitch, designed for high density mounting. The connectors are aligned on 2.54 mm grid boards to maximize space utilization. The A1 series offers 16 variants with 6 to 64 contacts while the A2 series offers 20 variants with up to 20 contacts. A1 series connectors are compatible with the HIF3B series cable side and HIF3H receptacle for diversified applications.
Features and Specifications
Current and Voltage: These connectors are rated for 3A current and a voltage rating of 200V AC. They have an operating temperature range from -55°C to +85°C and a storage temperature range from -10°C to +60°C. Applicable humidity ranges from 40 to 80% during operation and 40 to 70% during storage.
Electrical Performance: Insulation resistance is specified as 1000M ohms minimum at 500V DC, and they must withstand voltages up to 650V AC for 1 minute without flashover or insulation breakdown. Contact resistance is rated at 15m ohms maximum at a test current of 0.1A.
Environmental Requirements: These connectors can endure a variety of environmental stresses, such as vibration with no electrical discontinuity greater than 1µs within the frequency range of 10 to 55 Hz, and temperature cycling from -65°C to +125°C for 5 cycles without any damage or loss of mechanical integrity. Also, they are designed to resist soldering heat with no deformation of performance-affecting components for manual soldering at 350°C for 3 seconds and in a solder bath at 260°C for 10 seconds.
Durability and Lifespan: The operating life of the contact system is at least 500 cycles with a maximum contact resistance of 15m ohms. The humidity endurance test requires a steady-state insulation resistance of 1000M ohms minimum, after 96 hours at 40°C with 90% to 95% humidity.
Materials and Finish
The insulator parts are made of PBT with UL94V-0 flammability standards and are colored black. The pin headers have a gold-plated contact area and a tin-plated DIP area. Contacts are made from brass with gold plating on the contact area and nickel plating on the termination area. Crimping sockets are composed of polyamide, also adhering to UL94V-0 standards, and crimping contacts of phosphor bronze bear the C2 HRS finish.
The datasheet states that in applications demanding high reliability, such as automotive, additional information and confirmation from company representatives should be sought.
