Product Withdrawal and Replacement Notice
EPCOS has announced the withdrawal of specific metallized polyester film capacitors within the B32520 and B32529 series. Customers should note that part numbers B3252900335 and B3252900475M are scheduled for discontinuation. The respective substitute products are B3252905335* and B3252905474M*. The official withdrawal began on April 4, 2014, with the last orders accepted until July 15, 2014, followed by final shipments by October 15, 2014. EPCOS recommends contacting sales offices for assistance in selecting suitable replacements.
General Purpose Capacitors Overview
The B32520 and B32529 capacitors are designed for applications such as blocking, coupling, decoupling, and RFI use in automotive industries. They are constructed using stacked-film technology for lead spacings of 5 to 15 mm and wound capacitor technology for lead spacings of 10 to 37.5 mm, marked by specific codes in the product ordering number.
Construction and Specifications
The capacitors use a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) dielectric and are encapsulated in a plastic case compliant with UL 94 V-0, with epoxy resin sealing. They can operate at a maximum temperature of 125°C and meet the IEC climatic category of 55/125/56. The components are designed for high pulse strength and reliability. The series also meets RoHS compliance and offers halogen-free options upon request.
Lead and Packaging Details
Terminals consist of parallel wire leads with lead-free tinning. Tailored lead lengths can be provided as per custom requirements. The products are marked with the manufacturer’s logo, capacitance, tolerance, DC voltage, and manufacturing date codes. The capacitors can be delivered in bulk, untaped, or taped form (Ammo pack or reel) with further details on taping contained in a subsequent chapter of the datasheet.
Dimensions and Variants
Capacitors in this series are offered in multiple dimensions with lead spacings ranging from 5.0 to 37.5 mm and lead diameters of 0.5 mm for various capacitor widths. Unique codes accompany different dimensions for ease of identification and ordering.
