Overview

The datasheet provides detailed information about the Pomona Model B Stack-Up Banana Plug, which is designed for creating jumpers or connections in chassis boxes. The plug can mate with Model #1581, 2854 or standard Banana Jack, and is suited for both cross and vertical stacking configurations.

Materials and Construction

The extension stacking banana plug is made of a beryllium copper spring (QQ-C-533, Alloy 172, Cond. HT) and a brass plug body (QQ-B-626, Alloy 360, Yz hard) with a nickel plate finish (QQ-N-290 class 2, 200/300 microinches). The insulation is molded polypropylene, closely integrated with the plug body and wire. Each plug and corresponding wire are color-matched for easy identification. The wire is 18 AWG with 65 x 36 t.c. stranding and PVC insulation. Markings on the wire include “MODEL B-XX” and “POMONA BXX-” with “XX” representing the cable length.

Ratings and Operating Conditions

The assembly is rated for an operating temperature of up to +55°C (+131°F) and comes with two distinct voltage ratings: 30VAC/60VDC for handheld testing and 5000 WVDC for hands-free testing in a controlled voltage environment. The maximum current capacity is specified at 15 Amperes continuous.

Ordering Information

When ordering, “XX” denotes the cable length with standard options ranging from 4 inches (102 mm) to 72 inches (1829 mm). Custom lengths are available upon request. The color code is followed by a dash and number, with each number corresponding to a specific color (e.g., -0 for Black, 2 for Red). For example, the ordering code “B-72-2” corresponds to a 72-inch red cable. The tolerances for dimensions are indicated, with un-noted tolerances being +/- .010 inches (0.25 mm) and noted dimensions having a tolerance of +/- .005 inches (0.127 mm). All specifications are subject to change without notice.

Additional Information

The datasheet mentions that all dimensions are provided in inches and that specifications adhere to the latest revisions. The product is manufactured in the USA, with sales and technical assistance contact information provided. The datasheet states the date as 6/9/99, and a reminder is given that trademarks belong to their respective companies.
