Introduction
This manual provides a guide on how to change the oil in your 1997-2001 Toyota Camry to improve engine performance and longevity.
Conventional oil can last over 5,000 miles between changes, while synthetic oils can last beyond 10,000 miles.
Required Tools and Parts
The following tools and parts are needed: 14mm socket, funnel, hydraulic floor jack, jack stands, oil drain pan, oil filter wrench, shop towels or rags, engine oil quart (5W-30), and oil filter.
Refer to your owner’s manual for a list of acceptable oil filters.
Starting the Oil Change
Find the hood release lever and lift the hood open. Locate the hood latch and pull up to open the hood further.
Place the hood prop rod into the hole located at the front of the hood on the passenger side.
Proceed to locate the jacking point on the passenger side of the car and jack up the car.
Place a jack stand beside the jack and slowly lower the car to rest on the jack stand.
