Ford Motor Company Safety Recall 14S05 Certain 2008-2011 Model Year Escape and Mariner Vehicles Electric Power Steering

This is a safety recall notification for certain 2008-2011 model year Escape and Mariner vehicles built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant.

Reason for Recall:

The power steering system may revert to manual steering mode due to an Electric Power Steering system fault related to the torque sensor, which may increase the risk of accident.

Service Action:

Dealers are to check the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and perform necessary repairs, including reprogramming the PSCM and Instrument Cluster (IC) module, replacing the torque sensor, or replacing the steering column assembly.
