Fitting Guidelines for Multifocal Contact Lenses

The Alcon multifocal contact lens fitting guidelines consist of 3 steps: Initial Lens Selection, Distance Over-Refraction, and Review (if required). These steps ensure a successful fitting process for patients.

Initial Lens Selection

Determine the initial contact lens power using the vertex-corrected, most plus, spherical equivalent distance Rx, and add +0.25D for each eye.

Distance Over-Refraction

Use handheld lenses to perform distance over-refraction on each eye separately, adding plus 0.25D steps until the patient reports a decline in distance vision.

The fitting guidelines also provide recommendations for fitting tips, enhancements, and replacement schedules for different modalities of Alcon multifocal contact lenses.
