Important Information
Certain diesel engine models may display messages on the Driver Information Center (DIC) indicating the need for a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) cleaning.
The DPF will clean itself as part of normal operation, but under certain driving conditions, such as extended idling or stop-and-go traffic, the DPF cannot clean itself.
Customer Instructions
Instruct customers to operate the vehicle above 30mph until the message clears to allow for self-cleaning of the DPF.
Inform customers about the importance of responding to the messages immediately and avoiding extended idle time while the message is displayed.
Important Notes
Ignoring the message and continuing to drive with the warning message on may result in the malfunction indicator lamp illuminating and reduced engine power.
Dealer service will be necessary if the DPF warning message is ignored.
