Airbag System
The airbag system is designed to provide supplemental protection in moderate to severe crashes. It includes frontal and roof-rail airbags, which deploy based on the severity and type of impact.
The system uses sensors to detect the severity of the crash and determines whether to deploy the airbags at a reduced level or full deployment.
Passenger Sensing System
The passenger sensing system is designed to detect the presence of a child seat or an adult passenger and enable or disable the right front passenger airbag accordingly.
The system uses a sensor to detect the passenger’s weight and seat position, and may not detect certain child seats or small adults.
Important Safety Considerations
It is important to follow proper procedures when servicing the airbag system to avoid injury or compromise system effectiveness.
Only qualified technicians should service the airbag system, and authorized GM-approved accessories should be used to avoid affecting system performance.
