The BD Alaris System is a medical device that requires proper setup and programming for safe and effective use.
_warnings:_ Air in the line, unexplored air, and priming issues can have serious consequences.
Programming and Priming
Load syringe into device, select syringe type and size, prime set, and ensure air is expelled from the line.
_cautions:_ Ensure patient is not connected during priming, and device is level with patient’s heart.
Alarms and Troubleshooting
The system has various alarms for channel disconnection, syringe issues, occlusion, pressure disc, and syringe empty.
_responses:_ Silence alarm, reattach channel, inspect and adjust syringe, clear occlusion, reinstall pressure disc, and set up new syringe infusion.
