Trailer Hitch Installation
This manual provides instructions for installing a trailer hitch on a 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner 2 & 4 DR.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 5,000 LBS trailer weight and 500 LBS tongue weight when used as a weight carrying hitch, and 6,000 LBS trailer weight and 600 LBS tongue weight when used as a weight distribution hitch.
Installation Steps
The installation process involves removing tow hooks from the vehicle frame, positioning weldnut plates, and raising the hitch into position. The process requires no drilling and takes approximately 35 minutes to complete.
It is important to periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound.
