Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of a Tahoe or Yukon 2-Mode Hybrid! This manual will guide you through the features and operations of your vehicle.
Getting to Know Your Hybrid
Your Tahoe or Yukon 2-Mode Hybrid operates similarly to a regular vehicle, but with several fuel-saving features that increase vehicle efficiency and maximize fuel economy.
The hybrid system recharges the battery during deceleration and braking, and does not require plugging into an electrical outlet.
Typical Hybrid Sounds
You may hear slight whirring, humming, or blowing sounds from the electric motors, which are normal and typical of hybrid vehicles.
Hybrid System Information
The hybrid system includes a 300-volt Energy Storage System, electric motors, and a Vortec V8 engine with Active Fuel Management. The system selects the most efficient mode of operation based on driver demand and battery charge.
Maximizing Fuel Economy
Modifying your driving habits can improve your fuel mileage. Combine short trips, avoid quick starts and stops, accelerate moderately, and anticipate traffic flow to improve fuel economy.
Regular maintenance, checking tire pressure, and unloading unnecessary cargo can also contribute to better fuel economy.
Hybrid Energy Storage System
The 300-volt Hybrid Energy Storage System provides power to the system’s electric motors and recharges itself during idle driving and braking.
Regenerative Braking
Regenerative braking recaptures energy from the moving vehicle and converts it into electrical energy, stored in the Hybrid Energy Storage System.
