Introduction
The PanOptic Ophthalmoscope is a diagnostic aid used to examine the fundus of the eye, as well as other ocular structures.
The instrument permits direct observation of the structures of the fundus, including arteries, veins, and the optic nerve of the retina.
Operating the Instrument
Attach the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope head to a Welch Allyn power source and align the cutouts in the base with the lugs on the power source.
Insert the patient eyecup into the patient’s side of the instrument and twist until locked in place.
To examine the right eye, stand or sit to the patient’s right side, remove spectacles (if necessary), and look through the scope with the focusing wheel.
Important Safety Information
WARNING: The light emitted from the ophthalmoscope is potentially hazardous, and prolonged exposure can cause ocular damage.
WARNING: The instrument is not suitable for use in the presence of flammable anesthetics.
