This technical service bulletin (TSB) supersedes TSB 14-ST-002-7 to update applicable vehicle models, service procedures, and OP Codes.

The MDPS assembly contains a flexible rubber coupling that may wear over time, resulting in a slight “clicking” or “thud” type noise when turning the steering wheel. This TSB describes the service procedure to replace the coupling.

The MDPS coupling replacement service is applicable to the following vehicle models:

Models:

  • 2013-2015 Hyundai Elantra GT (GD)
  • 2013-2014 Hyundai Elantra Coupe (JK)
  • 2013-2016 Hyundai Santa Fe (NC)
  • 2012-2014 Hyundai Azera (HG)
  • 2012-2015 Hyundai Veloster (FS)

The service procedure involves removing various components, including the front door side weather strip, crash pad side cover, crash pad lower panel, and lower dash plate.

Caution:

Take care not to damage any wiring or introduce foreign matter when disassembling the MDPS assembly. Ensure all connectors are securely plugged in when reassembling.
