The 2005 Mazda Tribute is a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with a new four-cylinder engine, styling changes, and numerous upgrades inside and out. The manual highlights the features of the Tribute, including its handling, responsiveness, and steering feel, which are fine-tuned to a level reminiscent of a sports car.

Engine Options

The Tribute comes with two engine options: a 2.3-liter, four-cylinder i engine producing 153 horsepower and 152 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.0-liter, 24-valve, V-6 engine producing 200 peak horsepower and 193 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission Options

The i engine is available with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, while the s engine comes with a four-speed automatic transmission.

Suspension and Braking

Design and Features

The Tribute has a new exterior design that incorporates athletic, aggressive, and upscale styling, with a cleaner front fascia and new headlights and fog lamp fixtures. The interior features a new center instrument panel, flow-through console, and floor-mounted gear shifter, as well as a redesigned heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) system.

Vehicle Safety

The Tribute has been revised to improve performance in offset frontal crashes and passenger-seat weight-sensing technology is standard on both models. Dual front airbags are standard, and side impact air curtains and side airbags with rollover protection come as an option on s models.
