Important Safety Information
Always exercise caution when using the Manual Park Release feature, as it allows the vehicle to roll away if not properly secured. Seat yourself in the driver’s seat with your foot on the brake pedal and apply the parking brake if possible. If the transmission won’t shift out of PARK, follow the steps below to activate the Manual Park Release.
To activate, apply firm pressure to the brake pedal and Electric Park Brake while seated in the driver’s seat.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Remove the Manual Park Release access cover.
- Insert a flathead screwdriver or similar tool into the lock release and rotate a quarter turn counterclockwise, then hold and pull the tether strap out as far as it will go.
- Release the tether strap and the transmission should shift to NEUTRAL.
To reset the Manual Park Release, follow the same steps and confirm the transmission is back in PARK. Reinstall the access cover and verify the tether has retracted fully.
