Technical Background
The technical service bulletin discusses the issue of air suspension warning displayed in the driver instrument panel (DIP) due to a problem with the level control pressure sensor. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C103129 is stored in the chassis control unit (address 74) and is only applicable to vehicles with software version less than 1244 installed in the adaptive suspension control unit.
Solution
To resolve the issue, a software update is required. The update procedure involves connecting the Bentley approved diagnostic tool to the vehicle, selecting the SVM problem-related hardware/software update, and following the on-screen prompts. The vehicle identification number (VIN) and dealer information are required.
Procedure
The procedure involves the following steps:
* Connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle
* Select the SVM problem-related hardware/software update
* Enter the specific SVM code 4VO74TPIUPDATE and select “Adopt”
* Check that the correct SVM code has been entered and select “Yes”
* Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the procedure
Important Notes
* The vehicle’s software version must be updated to ensure proper functioning of the air suspension system.
* The update procedure may cause the control unit to require replacement.
* The vehicle’s identification number, date of manufacture, engine code, and gear box code are required for the update procedure.
Additional notes:
* The air suspension system must be recalibrated after the software update is completed.
* The vehicle’s headlamps must be adjusted according to the workshop manual.
* The vehicle’s geometry, wheel alignment, and ride heights must be checked and adjusted accordingly.
