Volkswagen has announced a recall for certain 2021 model year Arteon vehicles due to a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 138, Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
The issue is related to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors that may have been incorrectly calibrated, which could lead to malfunction of the system and potentially increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action:
Volkswagen will install a TPMS repair kit, which will take approximately two hours to complete, and will be performed free of charge.
Customers are advised to contact their authorized Volkswagen dealer to schedule the recall repair as soon as possible.
Additionally, if a loss of tire pressure occurs, the TPMS system may not correctly identify the position of the affected tire, but the driver will still be alerted by a telltale in the instrument cluster.
