Overview

The RAM 2500 CNG is a diesel-powered vehicle that can run on either gasoline or compressed natural gas (CNG). It has a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

CNG System Operation

The CNG system operates seamlessly, switching between gasoline and CNG based on engine coolant temperature, vehicle speed, and driver behavior. The system can switch to gasoline under certain high-load conditions or if the CNG tank falls below a certain level.

Fuel Cylinders and Pressure

The fuel cylinders are equipped with a label stating the fuel cylinder expiration date, and there are three replaceable in-line filters to aid in moisture and debris removal. The pressure regulator controls the CNG pressure, reducing it to a lower consistent pressure.

CNG Filler and Receptacle

The CNG filler receptacle is located behind the fuel fill door and houses a replaceable 50-micron filter and a one-way check valve. The filter requires removal of the O-ring and snap ring to replace.

Warning

See warnings starting on page 9 prior to attempting any repairs to the CNG fuel system.
