This manual provides an introduction to the Mazda CX-9, including its key features and starting procedures.
The CX-9 is equipped with several advanced features, including Active Driving Instrument Display Cluster, Blind Spot Monitoring System (BSM), and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).
Starting the Engine
The CX-9 has a SKYACTIV START-STOP ENGINE combustion technology with Accelerated Warm-up System (AWS). This system heats up the catalytic converter faster to reduce emissions and improve efficiency.
To start the engine, push the START-STOP ENGINE button while pressing the brake pedal. The engine will run at a higher RPM for a brief period to warm up the catalyst, then return to idle. The system can be activated by pushing the button once without pressing the brake pedal.
You can drive the vehicle during AWS activation, and there is no need to wait. The engine can be turned off by pushing the START-STOP ENGINE button, setting the parking brake, and shifting the transmission to PARK.
Additional features include Advanced Keyless Entry System, which allows you to lock and unlock the doors without taking the key out, and Automatic Start-Stop Engine, which can be controlled using the START-STOP ENGINE button.
