Overview
The 2016 Subaru WRX is a sport-compact car that combines performance, value, and safety features. With its new wide-body sedan design and stiffer chassis, the WRX is a performance benchmark in the high-performance AWD sport-compact segment.
Key Features
The WRX comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged BOXER engine, producing 268 horsepower, and a 6-speed manual transmission. Optional is the Sport Lineartronic CVT with 6-Speed and 8-Speed Manual Modes, which provides an ultra-smooth driving character with manual shifting capabilities.
The WRX also features Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring, which enhances handling agility and reduces understeer. The car has a premium cabin with soft-touch materials and a sporty flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Safety Features
The WRX is equipped with a range of safety features, including EyeSight driver assist technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warning. The car also has a blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert system.
Additionally, the WRX has a Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame body structure, which has been shown to excel in the new small overlap test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The car also has a full range of airbags, including driver’s knee airbag, front side pelvis/torso airbags, and side curtain airbags.
