This safety recall affects around 25,500 FIAT 500L models built from March 06, 2013 through October 21, 2014, equipped with a 1.4L engine. The issue is with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software calibration, which may cause diminished acceleration and vehicle speed control. The recall requires the PCM module to be reprogrammed with new software using the wiTECH micro pod II and NPN Laptop Computer.

Repair Procedure

The procedure involves connecting the wiTECH micro pod II to the vehicle data link connector, placing the ignition in the “RUN” position, and opening the wiTECH 2.0 website. The user must then select the vehicle to be updated, agree to terms, and follow the wiTECH screen instructions to complete the flash.
