Summary of Acura Service Bulletin 13-006

Acura is extending the warranty coverage on the Piston Rings and Pistons for 2009-11 TSX L4 to 8 years from the original date of purchase or 125,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Reason for Warranty Extension: Excessive engine oil consumption due to sticking rings resulting from deposits on the oil control rings.

The warranty extension does not apply to vehicles that have been declared a total loss or sold for salvage, or have a branded title under any state’s law.

What to Do:

Owners of affected vehicles will receive a notification of this warranty extension. Customers should do an iN VIN status inquiry to ensure their vehicle is eligible for the warranty extension.

If the owner’s vehicle is eligible, the engine oil level will be checked, and the oil control rings may be replaced if necessary. The customer will be notified of any repairs that need to be done.

The warranty extension is effective until the original date of purchase or 125,000 miles, whichever comes first.
