RAM 2500 CNG Overview

The RAM 2500 CNG is a bi-fuel vehicle that can run on both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and gasoline. The CNG system has been engineered to provide seamless fuel switching between the two fuels.

CNG System Operation

The CNG vehicle will automatically switch from gasoline to CNG when the engine coolant temperature reaches 18’C (64.4’F), the vehicle speed exceeds 24 KPH (15 MPH), and the driver coasts.

The engine will switch back to gasoline when the CNG system falls below the low fuel threshold or when it is operated under certain high-load conditions.

CNG Control

The CNG control system uses a pressure regulator to control the CNG entering the fuel rail to a consistent pressure. The system includes a pressure relief device and three replaceable in-line filters to aid in moisture and debris removal.

The fuel cylinders are equipped with a label stating the fuel cylinder expiration date, and the CNG fuel system has three replaceable in-line filters to aid in moisture and debris removal.

Fuel System Warnings

Caution: Warnings starting on page 9 prior to attempting ANY repairs to the CNG fuel system.
